Over the last few decades the pharmaceutical industry has seen major advances. Pharmaceutical supply chains, however, have been largely ignored and have not kept up with the pace of innovation. A subset of drugs today still rely on natural products or animal derived sources as starting materials. These raw material sources are highly variable with respect to quality/purity profiles and are prone to disruption by major epidemic diseases such as Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE) or and other Transmissible Spongiform Encephalopathies (TSE).

Sandhill One has developed a unique synthetic approach for a number of intermediates and Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients that does not rely on any animal derived starting materials and is therefore not subject to these potential supply chain interruptions.
